Miltiple tapes hold a diaper on an adult better than one. As for wettness indicators, they are un-niscessary as long as it is your own diapers that you are changing. You do indeed know if you have wet them. However, the indicators are there for people who are caring for others who can't tell them they are wet. As for large Pampers and such for adults, you will never see that, but an adult diaper that uses the "gel" like a baby diaper would be both possible and welcome.
