Reply from Cindy, Child's Age 9 - 3/27/03 - IP#: 67.248.84.170Thank you both, Tom & Tom UK for your comments about Morgan. I will add a few additional comments. Firstly, Morgan does not normally need the bathroom every 90 minutes. She can wait several hours and never has a problem at school. So I have no reason to suspect any medical problem. About having a small bladder, I realize a growing child could have a bladder that lags behind in growth. One additional thing I neglected to mention, Morgan wets every night and thus the reason we visit this site. And so with a lack of consistent day problems, I would suggest that last weekend’s episode was behavior related. What I mean by that is that she elected not to come home until it was too late, whatever her reason was. My decision now is that I will be proactive and remind Morgan to take a break from play to take care of personal needs. Perhaps she will be annoyed enough with my reminders to start to take a break on her own. Lastly, my decision to punish was based not on wetting because I agree that a wetting accident in itself is not something requiring punishment. Instead I punished her because of a poor behavior choice. Poor behavior requires some consequential action. The weather this weekend will be cold, maybe snow flurries, LOL. I don’t think she will be playing outside. Cindy |
