I am going to weigh in on this discussion from two perspectives: as a person who was forced into diapers and endured various other punishments as a bedwetting child, and as the parent of a past bedwetter. First, if you want your child to grow up with a diaper fetish and suffer other worse problems, then go ahead and force them into diapers, punish them and humiliate them. Even better, make sure other people know about it and let or encourage them to tease your kid(s). Why not go all the way and turn your 11 year old into a complete baby for 10 days!?! His sister can do the diaper changes, give him spankings, even potty and bathe him. Yes, all of the above happened to me. I have also had serious problems with self-esteem and depression, including a couple of suicide attempts. I have also not had any contact with my parents for 20 years! My sister tells me they don't understand why. Children DO NOT want to wet the bed! Wearing diapers or Goodnites DOES NOT change that. The only people that think that wearing Goodnites or other such protection means that a child will continue wetting longer are those that never wore them or needed them. The best suggestion I can give you is make the problem as little of a problem as possible. Goodnites are one of the best products to come on the market for kids in a long time. And once the child hits 10 or 11, let them decide how they want to deal with it and back off. Do nothing more than make sure they are dealing with it appropriately (showers, changing sheets, whatever.) Those with ADD/ADHD will need more supervision (we get lazy), but in that case make it as easy to deal with as possible. If the child wants diapers, let them have them. If they don't, DON'T force them. But, NEVER, ever punish, tease, or otherwise humiliate them!!! Regardless of their age, no child wants to wet the bed. If you think they don't care it is only because you are seeing their defense mechanism - not the way they are feeling inside.
