Reply from Jeffrey, Child's Age 16 and 14 - 8/4/03 - IP#: 131.96.240.xxx parbb-c1509 Richard, Although I agree with you completely that spanking a bedwetting child serves no purpose and only causes harm, there was one quote you cited, supposedly from the author of a book on bedwetting, that is extremely troublesome. You said: "One author in a book about bedwetting said that there has not been one documented case of a child stopping wetting their bed because they were spanked and 'any child that does stop bedwetting because of a spanking is not worth raising in the first place.' " Permit me to paraphrase: any book by an author who would say something like that is not worth reading in the first place. To state that any child is "not worth raising" for any reason is preposterous, and any author that would say such a thing has so little good judgement that his or her credibility is highly suspect. I read Jacob's response to your post, and I would suspect that situation's such as his are probably far more common than what you described about yourself. |
