It sounds like your child is constipated and has backed up stool and needs to be cleaned out. The backed up stool distends the bowel. Liquid stool squirts around the mass of hard stool and causes the soiling. The large mass of stool can also push on the bladder and cause wetting. If there is a large amount of backed up stool in the abdomen, laxatives won't phase it. Mineral oil enemas and Fleets enemas are usually necessary and then mineral oil by mouth and stool softeners for several weeks. Your doctor may need to break up the stool in the rectum as well.
