Jared, I agree with Stephanie 100%. Parents, if you feel you must use diapers to control your kid's bedwetting, PLEASE read and follow Jared's example in order to preserve your child's dignity and self-esteem. I too am encouraged by the sensitive and loving way in which you handled this. The only thing I would add is that kids can even be taught to use the washer at a much younger age -- I think I was 7 or 8 when my parents taught me, and it was a great way to give me some sense of control over the problem and was not viewed as a punishment at all. I am writing now as one who did have accidents from time to time in college, and it was much easier to handle having had all the practice I had growing up. Even if Matt also continues to have occasional accidents for a while, it sounds like he will be very well equipped to handle it physically and emotionally because of all of the support and encouragement he has received up to now. Kudos!!
