Reply from Tom.UK, Child's Age 11/16/20 - 2/13/04 - IP#: 62.252.32.xxx parbb-c1769 Dear Steph, spanking a child for bedwetting is the wrong approach as you say the majority of the time it is not within the childs capability to stop and so beating a child is counter productive and as you said because of the beatings you wet more that was because you were probably nervous and afraid and emotionally disturbed by the beatings!spanking a child as a last resort and making sure the child knows why/she he is being punished in this way in my mind can be productive but only very rarely use corporal punishment there are other ways to correct a child and if you beat a child too often it can send the wrong message to that child in later life they wouold feel well I was beaten as a child so its ok to beat my child and that is where a child is abused it gets out of hand and then that is where you see those cases in the news of children beaten nearly to death my children one eleven one 16 and a girl 20 my daughter and my son who is sixteen can varify that i have only smacked them on the posteria and could count the times i smacked them on one hand if that! I very very rarely used corporal punishment!.I didnt like useing it but felt that the demeanors they done warrented it!.but Never ever did I or my wife smack them for wetting the bed!. |
