Cindy, I am a Urology PA, speciallizing in children. I have a lot of pacients on the wetting alarm, I have seen them work with great success as you discribed. I do not recomend that you challenge the child with a bunch of fluid before bed. I think drinking if she is thirsty is fine don't push or restrict fluids. Your body regulates the volume of water in the blood stream by producing urine, it slows urine production at night so you don't have to get up and urinate. Further if you or I drink a couple big glasses of water before we go to bed, I don't think that we will sleep well, neither will your daughter. As for amount of time with the alarm. Unless the child is really conserned about getting off it, I recomend continued use, for 3 months before you take her off. If she stops using it and she regresses, it complicates the issue from a training and psychological effect.
