My 14 and 14 yearold twin daughters are still wetting the bed at night. They have both been in diapers for prolonged times during the day but mostly at night. I know for a fact that they both have a small bladder capasity and at night I encourage them to use the bathroom before bed and they do. They take little liquids in before bed but still wet the diaper. Because of the fact that they have small bladders is that when we go on trips that require us to be on the road for long periods of time without a stoping place with a bathroom I have them wear and take along a few of their diapers. This is because they have wet themselves in the car or in public without knowing it right away because of their bladder size. My point that I would like to make is that they do not seem to mind the troubble of wearing a diaper so if your children are in the same situationm as mine are in, it might be a good idea to bring up the idea of diapering your child on long trips (provided that it would be okay with them and if they need it.) It saves alot of hassals knowing that you can always have them change their diaper instead of having to get new, dry cloths and an embarassing task of doing so.----------------------Rachel__________________________

I just found this site, after searching tonight for I problem I am having here in my home. I am a mother of four boys, ages 11, 9, and 5 year old twins. I am having a problem with my twins wanting to wear pull-ups, but I think that is just a phase. Hars the ral problem. My 9 year old son was jsut discovered today wearing pull-ups! He has been trained since he was 3 years old, and never has taken an interest in wearing such things. When I asked him why he had put this on,and if he was actually USING the pull-up, (for peeing), he replied no. He even said that he didn't like the way it felt on him. He has tattled all day on his twin brothers for trying to wear them, while the whole time, he had one on himself. I know that this is not what is really being discussed on this message board, but I was hoping that maybe someone would see who could give me some advice, or help. Any advice, from any one is very welcomed. Thank you.

I have 3 boys who all still wet the bed. After reading some of the posts I agree that the sleepwet, even though I had never heard that term before. Last summer when we visited my folks in Chicago, both my Mom & Dad got upset, that the boys travelled in diapers, and would be sleeping in them during the visit. My mother was quick to point out to me that I too was a bedwetter, and she never treated me like a baby. No matter how we tried to explain that we were not babying the boys, my mother wouldn't listen to us. She even got the boys upset about having to wear diapers, for bed and travelling. It took us almost 2 weeks to get the boys back to thinking how much nicer a warm dry bed is then a cold wet one.Well you guessed it, my parents are coming for Christmas, and my wife is worried that my Mom will get the boys upset again. Has anyone else had this problem, and how di you handle it.Joseph

I'm just wondering if your wetting children have brothers/sisters who dont wet? I wet and mine tease me, but my mum doesnt seem able to stop it. What do you do to stop your other kids telling people at school & laughing at the wetter & stuff?

Dear Jennifer after reading your posting to Jillwho has a son aged 16 you cannot seriously expect a mother to do the same as you did with your 11 year old son do You?This is what you wrote !I "quote "1st nite he really freaked out, started crying loud, almost convulsing. I stopped. Then thinking we had to do this, I went and got one of his old bottles, filled it with warm chocolate milk, and came back, poped it into his mouth. He opened his eyes real supprized, then stopped crying and nurserd the nipple like he hadn't eaten in 3 days. After then, I used the bottle trick and there was no more problem and he got used to getting diapers." Unquote" What you actually done was to treat your 11 year old as a baby he is not a baby he is an 11 yr old child who goes probably to what we call in britain secondary school no child should be trated as a baby that is totally in my opinion out of order if child protection heard of this i am sure they would begin to have some concern however that is not for me to say! but, I was horrified when I read that post of yours My imediatethoughts was you poor child! he was screaming violently because he did Not want the nappy on in his mind he was not a baby I feel you handled that situation wrongly yes bedwetting is a problem and so is children wetting during the day but us parents must persevere and try coaxing with Love and understanding! I have been through with our children so I know what I am on about!best wishes,Tom

Reply to Tom (below): We tried alarms (several times), medication, cutting down on evening drinks, cutting out sugar, and so on and so forth, and like you we would not have dreamed of using diapers if we hadn’t seen this website last year. Even then my husband was reluctant and my son downright rebellious about the idea, but we tried it and it has made our life so much easier. No more wet sheets to deal with, no more waking our boy up at night, no more concern about staying with relatives or in a hotel, no more worry that he’d fall asleep in the car and ruin the seats, no more searching out restrooms whenever we go somewhere. He has gotten quite used to being diapered at night and he isn’t fussing so much about trips, etc. We feel the convenience and peace of mind outweigh the occasional emabarrassing moment and in fact my husband now wonders (after seeing poll #25 on this site) whether a little embarrassment might even help to reduce the bedwetting. Certainly the professionals with all their over-confidence about their methods, haven’t helped much.
